This week reinforced that point.
· Fed Leadership Shift: Warsh taking over as Fed Chair has the market’s attention. Some see Volcker. I see something closer to Havenstein. Either way, the pullback hasn’t changed the bigger picture.
· Commodities in Motion: The commodity complex is active across the board. This isn’t isolated price action; participation is broad and coordinated.
· Oil Showing Strength: Crude has moved sharply higher, catching attention after a long period of consolidation. The move has come without a clean narrative.
· Gold Remains a Focus: Gold continues to attract capital as volatility picks up across other asset classes. The tone around metals remains firm.
· Emerging Markets Engaging: EM assets are moving alongside commodities, reinforcing the broader rotation into real assets and away from purely financial trades.
· Dollar Unsettled: The dollar has struggled to gain traction. Short-lived bounces haven’t changed the broader tone.
· Equities Less Orderly: Stocks are moving, but with more crosscurrents. Volatility is rising, and intraday swings are becoming harder to ignore.
· Crypto: Bitcoin has lagged during the recent commodity strength, standing out as one of the weaker areas in the tape.
